Climbing Expedition in Ladakh

Ladakh is surrounded by high mountainous peaks of Great Himalaya (south) and Karakoram Range (north). The most famous peaks for mountaineers around Leh are Stok Kangri (6200 mts) and Kangyatse peaks. Stok Kangri massif peak lies south of Leh town and it is accessed by 3 days trek. The Kangyatse Peak (6400 mts) massif is lies south-east of Leh and to approach this peak one has to do enjoyable, beautiful and moderate 9 days trek of Markha valley.

To the south of Leh, in the Suru valley of Kargil District, lie Nun (7135 mts) and Kun (7077 mts) peaks with massif snows. Both these peaks is accessible through the Kargil-Padum road, Other options, to approach there are 12 days trek from Lamayuru and 10 days trek via Rangdum, golmatangol from Lamayuru. There are many other high altitude snow capped towering peaks in Ladakh region.


Nun Expedition

Nun and Kun peaks are the greater Himalayan range and is easily accessible from Kargil to Padum road. One day trek from the road will get you to the base camp for a great view of the peaks. Nun and Kun is the two known peak accessible from Suru valley with (Nun 7135 meters) and (Kun 7075 meters) respectively. The massif is located near the Suru Valley, about 250 km (160 miles) east of Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. Italian mountaineer Mario Piacenza made the first ascent of Kun in 1913, via the north-east ridge.

Towering at an impressive 6150 mts, Stok Kangri is a serious challenge. Although at such an impressive height, it is not a technical climb and in season requires no advanced mountaineering equipment. We work our way up to base camp over a number of days to maximize acclimatization and improve chances of a successful summit attempt. The view from the top is one of the best in the Himalaya offering great views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges including K2 (8611 m), the second highest peak in the world. This is one of the most popular trekking peaks in the Indian Himalayas and its proximity to Leh makes it very accessible. Recommend for those wish to climb a non-technical 6000 m peak.
