We are a travel company since 1994, specialising in India. Spending years travelling and accumulating experience & knowledge about this unique continent, we’re excited to share what we’ve found and show you one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Founder

Adventure Tours was founded in 1994 by S. B. Gurong from Leh - Ladakh, who began his vision towards Travel & Tourism since 1979, while he was a teenager. SB has travelled almost all the regions of Jammu & Kashmir, as well as Ladakh as a travel/trekking guide. As he spent years travelling these valleys and accumulated experience and knowledge about the area, he came up with a goal to share the beauty and experience of being in the Himalayan Mountains. Henceforth he started leading individual travellers as well small to larger groups on treks. With his extensive experience, many who travelled with him became very close friends. After having worked for Ladakh's most renowned companies, SB decided to start his own company in 1994.

SB has over the years worked with western clients on many different kinds of tours, from major climbing expeditions and custom itinerary treks to cultural & spiritual tours. SB has thus acquired a solid understanding of the different needs and expectations of clients, and his attention to detail and customer satisfaction are the core values of his company. In Ladakh, Adventure Tours has a reputation for absolute reliability and uncompromising provision of high quality service in trekking and climbing. Since 1997 Adventure Tours has gradually expanded its areas of operation to include other parts of the Himalayas, such as Kinnaur & Spiti Valley, Uttarakhand, Sikkim & Darjeeling, etc.

Management

Stanzin Nurboo oversees the management of Adventure Tours. As a third-generation travel agent, Stanzin carries forward a rich family tradition in the tourism industry. He pursued his studies in management in the UK, where he gained a strong foundation in business operations, which he now applies to his work in the travel sector. With expertise in logistics, planning, and crafting custom itineraries, Stanzin ensures that every journey is tailored to meet the unique needs of each traveller. His deep connection to Himalayan mountains, combined with his professional experience, allows him to offer seamless, unforgettable trekking and cultural experiences that highlight the region’s stunning landscapes and vibrant heritage.

Stanzin’s extensive network of local contacts — spanning guides, service providers, hospitality providers, and community leaders — enables him to offer clients truly authentic, personalised adventures.

Team

Sonam Angmo
With over 10 years of experience as a guide in Ladakh, Mrs. Angmo has a deep understanding of the region’s trails, culture, and logistics. Now working at Adventure Tours, she leverages her extensive field experience to organise and manage trekking and cultural tours. Mrs. Angmo is responsible for planning & coordinating logistics, and ensuring seamless travel experiences for clients. Her hands-on expertise in Ladakh makes her an invaluable asset in creating authentic, well-organised trips that highlight both adventure and cultural immersion.

Rakesh Kumar
With over 15 years of experience in the tourism industry, Mr. Rakesh specialises in managing services across Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Fluent in French, his main responsibility is to ensure the timely coordination of travel logistics—organising transport, accommodations, and local experiences—to provide clients with a seamless and hassle-free holiday. His in-depth knowledge of the region, combined with his commitment to smooth operations, ensures that every aspect of the client's journey is well-managed and enjoyable.

Tashi Spalzang
Mr. Tashi is an expert in on-ground logistics with extensive experience of over 18 years in managing the equipment and supplies needed for group trekking. He ensures that every trekking trip is fully equipped with the right gear, from tents and food to safety equipment, tailored to the specific needs of each journey. With his deep knowledge of group trekking dynamics, Mr. Tashi is responsible for coordinating all operational aspects on the ground, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. His attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and expertise in trekking logistics make him a key figure in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and successful experience for all trekkers.

Staff

Adventure Tours maintains a team of very experienced staff, most of who have been trained by the company itself to ensure that the philosophy of the company is shared by all employees. Guides are selected with great care and the company invests considerable resources in providing them with formal training in foreign languages such as French. In some cases the supporting staff's studies are in France, Switzerland and more routinely at the Alliance Française in New Delhi. Adventure Tours has main offices in New Delhi & Leh, with branch offices in Shimla, Garhwal and Darjeeling, to ensure the best possible level of service in all the main areas of operation. Local staff is employed at all these places.

The trekking staff consists of Nepalese cooks who have been working with Adventure Tours for more than 10 years.

Equipment

Adventure Tours uses only high quality equipment. Most of our equipment is of the brands Vaude, Tatanka, North Face and Coleman. In the Ladakh region we provide one of a kind camping equipment, like extra larges tents, full size sleeping mattresses and mobile toilet & shower units, that allow us to offer a premium camping/glamping experience. Safety equipment: We provide various safety equipments, like hyperbaric chambers and oxygen bottles for high-altitude treks and expeditions. Additional equipment can be arranged and provided as per specific requirements as well.

Since 2003, the date of our first trip to Ladakh, we have been using the "Adventure Tours" agency to organise our treks. In 2005 and 2008, we left with our four children, because we wanted to experience with them a unique moment in this part of the world that we love so much. SB, the director of Adventures Tours, knew how to take into account the presence of children in the organisation. We experienced precious moments with our children that will remain engraved for life in our memories.

For each of our treks, we can testify to the professionalism of Adventure Tours. When preparing the trek, there is a real dialogue with SB, who takes into account our wishes as well as the reality of the terrain (altitude, areas off-limits to tourists, etc.). The agency is concerned with the safety of its clients, and takes into account the acclimatisation time before starting the trek. This is of the utmost importance to us. If a problem arises, whatever it may be, the agency is very reactive.

And last but not least, Adventure Tours isn't just about logistics, it's also about meeting new people. We've known SB for over twenty years now. But also great encounters with guides, cooks and helpers. Warm-hearted teams without whom our treks wouldn't have the same flavour. We've brought many friends with us and recommended the agency to many of them. Each time, they came back delighted.
