Gangtok
Gangtok is located in the Shivalik Hills of the eastern Himalayan range, at an altitude of 1437 meter. It is the largest city and campital of Sikkim. Gaongtok is a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture and learning, with the presence of several monasteries, religious educational institutions and centre for Tibetology.
Yuksom
Yuksom is a historical town in west Sikkim. It was the first capital of Sikkim established in 1642 AD by Phutsong Nmagyal who was the first religious King of Sikkim. Yuksom has also special religious and cultural significance for the Bhutia trible community. Being at the head of the Kangchenjunga National Park and as the base camp for trekking to Mount Kangchenjunga, it has large influx of mountaineers from all parts of the world.
Pelling
Pelling is placid travel destination, situated at an altitude of 6,800 ft from the sea level. Pelling attracts most of the visitors for its glorious history, nature and culture of the state. Pelling, the laid back, scenic, but rapidly swelling hamlet is famous for the magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains of Kanchenjunga. Kalimpong
Kalimpong is a hill station in Lesser Himalayan range at an average elevation of 1250 meter in Indian state of West Bengal. Kalimpong is famous for its educational institutions many of which were established during the British colonial period.
Pemayangtse Monastery
The seat of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism was originally a small Lhakhang built by Lhatsun Chempo in the 17th Century. The monastery contains numerous antique idols and objects of worship and is filled with wall paintings and sculptures. The most astounding feature is a painted wooden structure of Zantho Pelri – the heavenly palace of Guru Rinpoche.
Rumtek Monastery
The Rumtek monastery is Located at a distance of about 24 kilometres from Gangtok. It is an ancient structure that was built in 1717, and resurrected later in 1960. It is covered with murals, Tibetan paintings, Tankhas and frescoes. It is also the largest monastery in Sikkim.
Darjeeling
Darjeeling is the famous hill station in Indian state of West Bengal. it is a worldwide renowned as a tourist destination, along with for its tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO world Heritage Site. The town is located in the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalaya at an average altitude for 2050 meter. Darjeeling was developed by British in mid-19th century as a military depot. Subsequently, extensive tea plantation was done in the region, and tea growers developed distinctive hybrids of black tea and created new fermenting techniques. The resultant distinctive Darjeeling tea is internationally recognized and ranks among the most popular of the black teas.
