General Information
Uttarakhand known as Devbhumi (Land of God) due to the many holy Hinud temples, spiritual and auspicious places to pilgrim and worship. Uttarakhand also recognized for its natural beauties. It is situated in northern part of India. It is borders with the Tibet in north, Nepal in east, Uttar Pradesh in south and Himachal Pradesh and Haryana in west.

Geography
93 % area of Uttarakhand is mountainous and 64% is covered by forest. The most areas of Uttarakhand are the part of Great Himalayan ranges. Uttarakhand is the birth place of India's two mightiest rivers, Ganges and Yamuna. Uttarakhand lies on southern slope of the Himalayan range. The highest elevations are covered by ice and bare rocks. Nanda Devi, the second highest mountain in India situated in Uttarakhand.

Flora and Fauna
Uttarakhand has large number of National Parks includes Jim Corbett National Park (The oldest National Park of India) in Nainital district, Valley of Flowers and Nanda Devi Nanital Park in Chamoli district which are also UNESCO world heritage sites, Rajaji National Park and Gangotri National Park in Uttarakashi district.

Uttarakhand is paradise for all type of tourists. Leisure, adventure and religious tourism paly of major role in Uttarakhand's economy. Nainital, Massoorie, Almora, Kausani, Bhimtal and Ranikhet are the most famous frequent destinations of India.
